What Edge Proxy includes
Every site behind Edge Proxy gets these, on every plan unless a line names one.
- HTTPS with a free certificate. We get a certificate for each name your site answers on, and renew it when 30 days are left. One certificate covers up to 100 names. Pro adds wildcard certificates, and your own certificates that you upload.
- A managed firewall. Rules we keep up to date block common attacks on websites before they reach your server. They cover SQL injection, cross-site scripting, path traversal and known scanners. A suspicious request gets a check that asks the visitor to confirm they are human.
- Custom firewall rules. Block or challenge requests that match a path, query, method, user agent, referrer or cookie. Pro includes 20 custom firewall rules and Business 100. Business adds rate limiting rules, which turn away an address that sends too many requests, and country rules.
- Caching of static files. The edge keeps copies of images, fonts, audio and video, so your server sends each file less often. It never caches your pages. Pro adds cache settings and a button that clears the cache.
- Filtering of DDoS attacks. Our network filters out floods of traffic meant to knock a site offline (DDoS attacks) before they reach your server. Our network
- One server or several. Send visitors to a server here or at any public address. Add more servers, and Edge Proxy spreads requests across them. Each request goes to the server with the fewest requests in progress, and a server that stops answering is skipped.
How it works
- Add your domain. Add a domain you own to our DNS, or register a new one here.
- Create a web proxy. Enter the address your site answers on and the server that runs it. We then get its certificate for you.
- Visitors reach the edge. Requests reach our network first, pass the firewall and then go on to your server.

Frequently asked questions
Does Edge Proxy cost extra?
Edge Proxy comes with every plan, and a web proxy needs no order and no invoice. Your plan sets how many websites you can have, and a web proxy for an address outside the domains in our DNS counts as one.
Can my site stay with its current host?
Edge Proxy can send visitors to any public address, so your site can stay where it is. You can also add more servers, and it spreads requests across them.
Does the edge cache my pages?
The edge caches images, fonts, audio and video, and never your pages, so visitors always get the current page from your server. On Pro and above you can change the cache settings and clear the cache.
What does the firewall block?
The managed rules block common attacks, such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting, and known scanners. A suspicious request gets a check that asks the visitor to confirm they are human. From Pro, you can add custom firewall rules.
Can I use my own certificate?
From Pro, you can upload a certificate you bought from another authority, and it replaces the free one on that site. We do not renew an uploaded certificate, so upload the new one before the old one expires.
