What a game server needs
Your game runs on a Container Apps server. Players reach it at a join address or at a floating IP, depending on the game.
- Container Apps: A server for Minecraft, Rust and other games, with the game installed for you and a console and file manager in your dashboard.
- Game Connections: A join address that carries players to your server through our network. Join addresses for servers hosted here cost nothing.
- Floating IPs: An address of your server’s own, which DDoS Shield filters for any game.
What comes with your server
- One address to join. Players type a name such as survival-smp.coritan.gg, with no IP address or port to remember. Our network checks each connection on the way to your server. For Minecraft Java, Minecraft Bedrock 26.50 and newer, and other games that connect over TCP. How join addresses work
- Protection for any game. Attach a floating IP to your server, and DDoS Shield filters every packet sent to it. That covers games that use UDP, such as Rust and Valheim. Traffic sent to the shared address of a server without a floating IP does not pass through DDoS Shield. Game server protection
- Daily backups on Pro. On the Pro and Business plans, we back up each Container Apps server every day and keep the newest 7. On the Free plan, add automatic backups to a server as an add-on. Backups count toward your snapshot storage. Automatic backups

Start your server in three steps
- Create your account. Sign up with your email address. Your account starts on the Free plan, which costs nothing.
- Order a server. Choose the game, a size and a location. We install the server once you have paid its first invoice.
- Invite your friends. Create a join address and share it. To let a friend help run the server, give their Coritan account access to it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I run a game server for free?
No server of any kind is free on Coritan. You pay for each one by the month, or by the hour on plans with an hourly price. Your account starts on the Free plan, which includes DNS and protection for your websites, email and storage at no charge.
Which games can I host?
You choose the game in the Software section of the order page, which lists every game we install, such as Minecraft Java, Minecraft Bedrock and Rust.
How do my friends join?
Create a join address for the server, such as survival-smp.coritan.gg, and share it. Minecraft players type only the name. For another game that connects over TCP, players add the port the dashboard shows.
Is my server protected from DDoS attacks?
A join address checks each connection before it reaches your server, and players never see the server’s own address. For a game that uses UDP, attach a floating IP: DDoS Shield filters all the traffic sent to it.
