Game servers that sleep when nobody is on
Run Minecraft, Terraria, Valheim, Rust and more, or a database. A server that sleeps when empty costs its disk only, and a join address for it is free.
Choose a game or software from our catalogue, a size and a location, and we install it and run it. A server that sleeps when nobody is on it costs its disk only, and a join address for it is free.
- Disk only is what a server costs while it sleeps or is stopped
Choose a size
A size sets the vCPUs, memory and disk. The price is what the server uses, so these figures are for a month with the CPU at one tenth of the vCPUs.
Game server and database sizes
Each price is a 730-hour month with the server on. The first column assumes the CPU idle, the second the CPU at one tenth of the vCPUs, and the third every vCPU busy all month, which is the most a size can cost. A stopped server costs its disk only.
| Size | Memory | vCPUs | Disk | CPU idle | CPU at 10% | Most a month |

Sleep when empty, wake on join
A server that nobody is on does not need to run. Turn this on and it stops when it is empty.
- Turn it on. Open the server’s Billing tab and turn on Sleep when empty. It is off until you do.
- Choose the wait. Choose how long the server waits with nobody on it, from 5 minutes to 24 hours. We start with 10 minutes.
- Players wake it. A player who joins through a join address starts it again. You can wake it from the dashboard too. While it sleeps it costs its disk only.
When a location is full, a start waits in a queue until there is room. The server’s files, backups and snapshots stay where they are while it sleeps.
Always on or sleeping
The same Minecraft server, priced for a month. It sleeps when empty in the first example and runs all day in the second.
Worked examples

A month costs $20.02. That includes the Paid plan at $4.50.
On a Pro account the same month costs $15.52, plus the Pro plan.
Each month assumes none of the free amounts is used yet, and prices are in US dollars before any promo code.
What a server pays for
One price for each meter. The Paid plan brings the free amounts.
What servers cost, by use
Web services and static sites need no plan and no size. You pay for the memory and CPU they use, the requests they answer and the data they send out, after the free amounts below. Virtual machines and game servers pay for memory while they run, the CPU they use and their disk for as long as they exist.
| Meter | Price | Free each month on every account | Free each month with the Paid plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Memory | $0.003 per GiB-hour | 100 GiB-hours | 25 GiB-hours |
| CPU, the CPU you use | $0.015 per vCPU-hour | 50 vCPU-hours | 6.25 vCPU-hours |
| Disk | $0.00005 per GB-hour | — | 200 GB-hours |
| Requests to web services | $0.15 per million | 10 million | — |
| Data out, North America and Europe | $0.0125 per GB | 100 GB in any region | 1,000 GB |
| Data out, Oceania | $0.025 per GB | The same GB | 500 GB |
| Data out, everywhere else | $0.02 per GB | The same GB | 500 GB |
| Builds | $0.0025 per minute | 3,000 minutes | — |
| Logs | $0.125 per GB | 15 GB | — |
- Performance sizes cost 1.5 times as much for memory, CPU and disk.
- The Paid plan costs $4.50 a month, or $3.60 a month billed yearly, and Pro and Business include it.
Join addresses, Bedrock and mods
How players reach the server.
- A join address at no charge (Included). Give players a name to type, such as survival-smp.coritan.gg, which keeps the server’s own address hidden. A join address for a server hosted here costs nothing. Game Connections
- Minecraft Java (Included). Port 25565, shared by every Java join address. Players type the name alone.
- Minecraft Bedrock (Included). Bedrock players join at the same name and add port 19132. Turn on Bedrock crossplay on a Java server that loads plugins, and we install the two plugins that let them in. Let Bedrock players join a Java server
- A floating IP, when a game needs one (Add-on). A game that connects over UDP, such as Rust or Valheim, joins at a floating IP of its own, which DDoS Shield filters at no charge. Floating IPs
What every server includes
Each game server and database comes with these, whatever its size. A tag says how each one comes.
Run it
- A console in your browser (Included). Start, stop and restart the server, read its output as it runs and type commands, from any browser.
- Files and SFTP (Included). Edit files in the dashboard’s file manager, or connect an SFTP app to copy whole folders and large files. SFTP listens on port 2022 and signs you in with your account password.
- Schedules (Included). Run commands, restart the server and take snapshots at set times. Automate a server with schedules
- Plugins, mods and modpacks (Included). The Marketplace on a server’s Software tab searches sources such as Modrinth and installs what you choose, after it checks the dependencies. Install plugins, mods and modpacks
- Share the server (Included). Give other people access to help run the server, with only the permissions you choose. Billing stays with you.
- Change the software (Included). Change to other software from our catalogue on the Software tab, at any time.
Data
- Snapshots (Included). Take a snapshot, a full copy of the server’s files, before a big change, and restore it if something goes wrong. A snapshot also starts a new server of a larger size, so a snapshot is how you move to a bigger one.
- Databases for your plugins (Included). Create MariaDB databases on the Databases tab for the plugins and apps that store data.
Limits
What a game server does not do.
What to know
- A free server: Coritan sells none on coritan.com
- The Paid plan: Needed to order a server
- The first deposit: A prepaid account adds it once before a server runs
- Changing size: A server keeps its size. Order a bigger one from a snapshot
- The shared address: Not filtered by DDoS Shield. Give players a join address, or attach a floating IP to the server
- Games over UDP: Minecraft Bedrock works through a join address. Other UDP games need a floating IP

Frequently asked questions
Which games and software can I run?
Minecraft Java and Bedrock, Terraria, Valheim, Rust, Palworld, Factorio, Satisfactory, Project Zomboid and Mindustry. Databases: MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis. Also Node.js, Python, WordPress and Lavalink. The order page lists everything you can choose.
How does sleeping work, and what does a sleeping server cost?
A server can stop itself when nobody is on it and start again when a player joins. While it sleeps it costs its disk only. You turn it on, and choose the wait, on the server’s Billing tab.
Is there a free game server?
Coritan sells no free server on coritan.com. Every server you order here is billed by what it uses, and an order for the free plan is refused. A brand that Coritan allows can sell a free server on its own storefront.
What does a Minecraft server cost?
It depends on the size and on how many hours a day it is on. The two examples on this page price the same server sleeping when empty and always on. A server also needs the Paid plan.
What do I need before I can order?
The Paid plan, and for a prepaid account a first deposit that stays in your account as credit. An account billed by invoice needs no deposit.
Can players on phones and consoles join?
Yes. Order the Bedrock server, or turn on Bedrock crossplay on a Java server that loads plugins. Bedrock players join at your join address and add port 19132.
Can I add mods and plugins?
Yes. The Marketplace on a server’s Software tab installs plugins, mods and modpacks from sources such as Modrinth, and checks their dependencies first. The software you run decides which kinds it loads.
Can I change the size later?
A server keeps the size you ordered. To move to a bigger one, take a snapshot, then order a server of the size you want from that snapshot.
