What you can use a name for

A claimed name works like a domain you own.

Each name uses a website

Each name is a DNS zone, so it counts as one of your websites. Plan limits on websites apply once the plans are open.

The Free plan’s websites include DNS, certificates and protection on our network. The site itself runs on a server you pay for, on hosting you already have, or as a static site on our edge.

What counts as a website

How to claim one

  1. Open the claim form. In the dashboard, open the Websites page and choose Get a free coritan.gg name. Right after you sign up, the dashboard opens it for you.
  2. Type a name. The form checks the name as you type and says when it is free. It also offers up to three names made from your profile.
  3. Claim it. We create the name’s DNS zone on your account, add its records to coritan.gg and request its wildcard certificate.

The weekly certificate limit

Every name under coritan.gg shares one weekly allowance of new certificates.

Frequently asked questions

Does a coritan.gg name cost anything?

No. A name costs nothing and needs no renewal, and it stays on your account while its DNS zone exists. It uses one of the websites your plan allows.

How many names can I claim?

An account can hold 3 names. Release one before you claim another. Each name is a DNS zone on your account, so it also counts as one of your websites: on the Free plan, three names use all three websites.

Why might a new name have no certificate yet?

Certificate authorities limit how many certificates they issue for one registered domain each week, and every name under coritan.gg shares that allowance. When it is used up, the claim still works but we do not order the certificate. Request it again once the week has turned.

Can I use my own nameservers or move the name to a registrar?

No. Our nameservers answer for a claimed name, and it cannot move to a registrar. To use other nameservers, register a domain of your own.

What happens when I release a name?

We delete its DNS zone with every record, load balancer and origin pool in it. Mail domains, web proxies, certificates and game server addresses under the name stop working, and anyone can claim the name afterwards. You cannot undo a release.
