Watch visitors on the Live page

See who is on your storefront now, where they are, how far they got and what sold today, on the staff console's Live page.

View as Markdown

The Live page of the staff console, /staff/live, shows who is on your storefront right now: how many people, where they are on a world map, how far each has got towards buying, what they are looking at, and what sold today. A shift lead can read it in a glance to see whether a launch, a campaign or an outage is changing traffic. Press g then w to open it from anywhere in the console.

Tier 1 support and every role above it can open the page. The read-only role sees its title and one line that says it opens for Tier 1 support and higher.

Two parts of the page need Tier 2 support or higher: the Players online figure and the Busiest servers card. Below Tier 2 they are left out, and the rest of the page is the same. They are also left out when we cannot read a player count at that moment.

The page counts the visitors your storefront's visit tracking records. A visitor is counted when they were active in the last 5 minutes, bots are left out, and each person is counted once.

The page refreshes itself every 5 seconds, and stops asking while its browser tab is hidden. A dot beside the title reads Live while the last answer arrived and Reconnecting when a refresh failed, in which case the figures are the last ones we got. Beside the refresh button, Updated 4s ago counts the seconds since the last answer.

Tile What it shows
Visitors now The visitors on the site, and how many of them are in the cart or at checkout.
Sessions today Visits so far today.
Orders today Orders placed today and how long ago the latest was. It links to Orders.
Revenue today Money paid in today, in the currency with the most money today. Money in another currency is never added in.
Players online Players connected to customer servers. Tier 2 support and up. It links to Servers.

Today starts when your brand's day begins, in your brand's time zone. Orders today, Revenue today and Recent orders can be up to 10 seconds old.

The Right now panel says how many visitors are on the site and how many of them have a known place. The map shows those that do. A visitor with no known place is left off the map and still counted everywhere else. No address or email is shown.

  • A dot is a place. Visitors close together share one dot, and the dot grows with how many they are. Point at a dot, or move focus to it, to read the place and the number of visitors.
  • A dot takes the colour of the stage closest to paying among its visitors, ranked Checkout, Cart, Purchased, then Browsing. Browsing is blue, Cart is amber, Checkout is the console's bright accent colour, and Purchased is the console's text colour, white on a dark console. Dots in the cart or at checkout pulse, and stand still when your system asks for less motion.
  • The stage strip under the map is its legend. It lists Browsing, Cart, Checkout and Purchased, each with the number of visitors in it now. We guess a stage from the path of the page a visitor is on: a cart page is Cart, a checkout or purchase page is Checkout, a thank-you, success or confirmation page is Purchased, and any other page is Browsing.
  • Drag the map to move it. Choose Zoom in or Zoom out, pinch on a touch screen, or hold Ctrl or Cmd and turn the mouse wheel. A plain wheel scrolls the page.
  • Choose World to show the whole planet and Fit to frame the visitors. The map frames the visitors once, when the first answer arrives, and then stays where you put it.
  • With the map focused, the arrow keys step through the dots, busiest first. Press + and - to zoom, 0 for World and f for Fit.

When nobody is on the site, the map says Nobody is on the site right now. Visitors show here within seconds of arriving. When the map cannot load, a note says so and offers Try again, and the table below still lists every visitor.

Under the map are three ranked cards: Top pages, Sources and Devices, each listing up to 8 rows with their visitor counts. Pages are paths, a source is where the visit came from, such as Direct or a search site, and devices are Desktop, Phone, Tablet or Unknown. Recent orders lists the last 8 orders that were paid for, with the order number, the product, the customer, the amount and when it was placed, and each row opens the order. Busiest servers lists the five servers with the most players, with the node, and each row opens the server.

Visitors, at the bottom, is a table of everyone on the map, newest arrivals first, 10 to a page. It holds the same facts as the map for people who cannot use a map, so it is the accessible version of it. Each row has the Location (city and country), the Page with its stage, the Source when it is known, and On site, the time since the visitor arrived, counted each second.

The page shows the storefront as it is now, and the figures move on their own. It records nothing and changes nothing. For history, Analytics has a Storefront visitors chart over a period (The staff console).

The Live page opens for Tier 1 support and higher.
Your role is read-only. Ask an admin for a support role.
Could not refresh the live view
The last refresh failed. The page keeps the figures it had, shows Reconnecting, and tries again.
Nobody is on the site right now.
No visitor was active in the last 5 minutes, or your storefront's visit tracking is off. Open your storefront in another tab and the visitor shows within seconds.
Players online and Busiest servers are missing
You are below Tier 2 support, or we cannot read a player count right now.

The page makes one request, GET https://api.coritan.com/api/v1/orgs/{org_slug}/staff/live, and takes a console session or a member's access token as The staff console explains. It is for Tier 1 support and up, and the reference lists it under Staff live.

The answer has:

at
When the answer was made, as an ISO 8601 time. The page counts a visitor's stay from it, so a browser clock that is off does not show a stay in the future.
visitors_now and sessions_today
The visitors active in the last 5 minutes, bots left out and each person counted once, and the visits since the brand's day began.
orders_today, revenue_today and currency
Orders placed and money paid in since the brand's day began. revenue_today is in currency, the one with the most money today, and money in another currency is never added in.
players_online
The players connected to the brand's servers. null below Tier 2 support, and when we cannot read a count at that moment.
stages
How many visitors are browsing, in the cart, at checkout or purchased, read from the page each one is on.
visitors
The visitors we could place on the map, at most 500. Each has an opaque id that is stable for the visit, lat, lon, a two letter country, a city, the page path, the stage, the source and since, when the visit began. A visitor with no place is left off and still counted everywhere else.
top_pages, sources and devices
The most visited pages, the sources visits came from and the devices they use, up to 8 each, as path, source or device with visitors.
recent_orders
The last 8 orders that were paid for, newest first, each with id, number, customer, product, amount, currency and created_at.
busiest_servers
The five servers with the most players, each with uuid, name, players and node_name. Empty below Tier 2 support.

Every figure covers your brand only. A role below Tier 1 support answers 403.
