Search and keyboard shortcuts
Open any page, service or action in the dashboard from one search box, and jump between pages with the keyboard.
Search is one box that finds your services, every page of the dashboard, the pages of your organization and the common actions. The sidebar and search read the same list of pages, so a page that is in one is in the other (The dashboard).
Open search
Section titled Open searchPress Ctrl K, or ⌘ K on a Mac, anywhere in the dashboard. Press it again to close search.
You can also:
- Press / when the cursor is not in a field.
- Select Search at the top of the sidebar.
- Select the search box in the top bar, which reads Search services and pages. On a narrow screen it is a search icon.
Press Esc to close search. Focus goes back to where you were.
What search shows
Section titled What search showsBefore you type
Section titled Before you typeThe list has four groups:
- Recent
- The last five pages and records you opened. A record is a service or an organization you chose in search. We keep them for your account on this browser only, so another person on the same computer sees their own.
- Services
- Five of your services.
- Pages
- Every page you can open, with a count beside the pages that need you.
- Actions
- The things you can do from here, listed below.
The line under the list reminds you that > shows actions and that g then a letter jumps to a page.
As you type
Section titled As you typeEvery word you type has to match. Search finds names, the start of any word in a name, initials and related words, so s3 finds Object Storage. It marks the letters that matched and lists the best matches first in each group:
- Recent
- Pages and records you opened before that match.
- Pages
- Pages that match. A page that needs you shows its count instead of the word
Page, such as2 overdue. - This organization
- The pages of your organization, written as
Settings › Storefrontwith the organization's name beside them, and your organizations by name. This group shows only when you own or work in an organization, and not while you work in another account. Choosing an organization opens its Overview. - Services
- Your services, by name, product or service ID. Choosing one opens its product's page, or its page under Subscriptions when the product has none.
- Actions
- The actions that match.
A group with no match does not show.
Type > for actions
Section titled Type > for actionsStart with > to see only actions. Type words after it to narrow them, such as > floating.
When nothing matches
Section titled When nothing matchesSearch says Nothing matches and what you typed, and offers two ways on: Open a ticket, which opens a new conversation with the Coritan team (Start a conversation), and Open help, which opens the help drawer (Help).
Pages search finds
Section titled Pages search findsEvery page in the sidebar, and these pages that the sidebar does not list:
- Subscriptions, which opens the Subscriptions tab of Billing.
- Usage and cost, which opens the Usage tab of Billing.
- Once account plans open on your account, Your plan, which opens the Plan tab of Plan and billing, then Support and Reseller program.
Actions search offers
Section titled Actions search offers- Order shortcuts
- New deployment, Order Cloud Compute, Order a floating IP, Order Mail Hosting and Create Object Storage. A product that is open to your account also has its own shortcut: Order SMTP Relay, Order a DDoS Shield profile, Order Snapshot Storage, Connect an external server and Register a domain. Order a dedicated sending IP shows only when one of your SMTP Relays is on a plan that can take one, and opens its order page for that relay (Order a dedicated sending IP).
- Account shortcuts
- Add credit, Pay invoices, Set a budget, Open a ticket, Open webmail and API keys.
- Plan shortcuts
- Once account plans open on your account: Change plan…, which opens the Plan tab, Add mailboxes and Open help. Add mailboxes opens the Overview of the email your plan includes, where its Add mailboxes dialog opens, because you add an add-on on the service it raises (Add capacity to a service). When search cannot find that email yet, it opens the Email list instead.
Keys inside search
Section titled Keys inside search- ↑ and ↓
- Move through the results. At the end of the list they wrap to the other end.
- Page Up and Page Down
- Move eight results at a time.
- Home and End
- Jump to the first or the last result while the field is empty. With text in the field they move the cursor, as in any field.
- Enter
- Open the highlighted result.
- Esc
- Close search.
Focus stays in the field the whole time, so you can keep typing to narrow the list.
Keyboard shortcuts for pages
Section titled Keyboard shortcuts for pagesPress g, then a letter within one second, to open a page.
| Keys | Page |
|---|---|
| g h | Home, or Dashboard before account plans open |
| g o | Order a service, or Order service before account plans open |
| g w | Websites |
| g g | Game Connections |
| g a | App Deployment |
| g c | Cloud Compute |
| g i | Floating IPs |
| g d | DDoS Shield |
| g m | |
| g s | Object Storage |
| g n | Snapshots |
| g b | Plan and billing, or Billing before account plans open |
| g t | Support |
| g e | Settings |
| g r | Reseller program, which is the Organizations list |
A shortcut opens a page only when the page is open to your account, so a product you cannot order has no key. Before account plans open, g r opens nothing while the sidebar shows your organization.
The keys do not work while the cursor is in a field, while a dialog is open, or while you hold Ctrl, ⌘ or Alt. Point at an entry in the sidebar to see its keys, such as Home (g then h).
