Choose which emails you get

The Notifications tab of Settings lists the kinds of email Coritan sends to your sign-in email. You can turn off the optional kinds there, or with the link at the bottom of an optional email. Security and billing emails always arrive.

• To use the Notifications tab, sign in to the dashboard. The link in an email works without signing in.

1. In the sidebar, select Settings, then the Notifications tab.
2. On the Email notifications card, select the switch beside a kind of email.

Each change saves at once, and a message confirms it, such as Offers and news turned on.

Every email of an optional kind ends with a link that turns that kind off.

1. In the email, open the unsubscribe link at the bottom.
2. The page names the kind of email and the address we send it to. Select Unsubscribe.

The page then says You are unsubscribed, and we stop sending that kind of email to your account. Opening the link changes nothing on its own, so a mail app that opens links to check them cannot unsubscribe you.

Some mail apps show their own unsubscribe button beside the sender's name. It turns off the same kind of email in one step, without the page.

The link turns off one kind of email for one account. To turn it back on, use the Notifications tab.

The sign-up form has a box, Email me offers and news, that starts unticked. Tick it to get Offers and news from the start. If you leave it unticked, your new account gets none, and you can turn them on later on the Notifications tab.

The switches for Security and Billing stay on, because those emails tell you about something you may need to act on.

These emails follow your account from sign-up. Each one goes once for the event it is about.

Emails about your invoices, receipts and failed payments are Billing too.

Your choices apply to your account only. A team member chooses their own emails in their own account.

Could not load your email notifications

The tab could not read your choices. Select Try again.

A switch moves back after you select it

The change did not save, and a message gives the reason. Try again.

The unsubscribe page says This link doesn't work

The link is incomplete or was changed on its way to you. Open the email again and use its whole link, or turn the kind off on the Notifications tab.

The unsubscribe page says the emails are already off

That kind was already off for your account, and nothing changed.

The unsubscribe page says We could not find this account

The account the email was for is closed, and we no longer send it email.

• Invite people to your referral link

These routes are about the person signed in, so they ignore the X-Coritan-Account header.

GET /auth/me/notifications answers every kind, with true for the ones you get:

marketing is Offers and news. security and billing are always true.

PUT /auth/me/notifications changes the kinds you send, and a kind you leave out keeps its value. The answer is every kind, as above.

Sending "security": false or "billing": false answers 422, and the error for that field says Value error, Security and billing emails are always sent.

An optional email carries the same link twice: at the bottom of the email, and in its List-Unsubscribe header with List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click, so a mail app can unsubscribe in one step. The link needs no sign-in. Its token names one account and one kind of email, and nothing else.

GET /email/unsubscribe answers the page with the Unsubscribe button, and changes nothing. Ask for JSON to read what the token names instead:

POST /email/unsubscribe turns that kind off. It answers JSON unless the request asks for a page:

changed is false when the kind was off already. A token we did not sign answers 400, and a token for a closed account answers 404.
